Submit School Reviews Lets’s get started If you aren’t sure, leave blank. District City Province ESL Nest was created with a vision to keep all foreign teachers working in China safe. For the 5 star rating system, PLEASE adhere to the following rules, and rating suggestions. Give the star rating based on the LEGALITY of school compliance of labor law. Do not give a school low ratings based on low salary, no flight reimbursement, or a toxic manager. We have the salary and benefits sections for that. For example-If your previous employer respected your 30 day resignation letter, and gave you a release letter on your canceled work permit so that you were able to do an easy visa transfer to your new employer, give the school a 5 star rating. If your previous employer did not give you a transfer paper, BUT they still canceled your work permit and converted your resident permit to a stay visa and ultimately you were able to start at your new job in a timely manner, give the school a 4 star rating. If your previous employer caused you distress, refused to cancel your work permit, threatened to black list you, paid you really late, or the work permit they gave you was not a legal one, then feel free to give them a 1 or 2 star rating. Overall Rating * Work Permit Transfer/Cancelation After you finished your last day of work(whether you finish contract, or broke the contract WHILE giving 30 days notice), what was your exit-experience with your previous employer/school? -Select- My employer was helpful and helped me transfer my work permit to the new school by giving me a release letter on my canceled work permit, but didn't cancel my resident permit. My employer went by the labor law, canceled my work permit, converted my resident permit to a stay visa, and released me from my employment contract in a timely manner. Although my employer eventually canceled my work permit and gave me my release/transfer papers, they dragged their feet(delayed for some time), but eventually canceled my work permit. My previous employer did not cooperate with my resignation. They did some/all of the following actions- a) threatened to blacklist me b)refused to cancel my work permit c) refused to accept my letter of resignation d) refused to give me a release letter from the employment contract e) had to hire a lawyer and go into labor arbitration and/or court litigation). The difference between work permit transfer and work permit cancelation- The best employers in China will do the following- 1) Cancel your work permit 2) Give you a release letter on the canceled work permit. 3) Do not cancel your resident permit. This way, your new employer can just transfer the work permit over and extend your resident permit. The good employers in China that do not want to transfer the visa will do the following- 1) Cancel your work permit 2) Cancel your resident permit and you will get a stay visa. Although this is not ideal, you are still able to get new work permit from your new employer. You just need to submit documents all over again. The bad employers in China will refuse to cancel your work permit. If they do not cancel the work permit, you cannot legally work anywhere else in China, and have to hire a lawyer to go into arbitration. This can be costly and cause you a lot of headaches.
