Nanjing International School (NIS), located at Xueheng Lu 8 in Xianlin University City, Nanjing, was founded in 1992 by a group of expatriate parents seeking quality education for their children in China. Initially known as Nanjing American School, it was rebranded to Nanjing International School in 1996. Starting with just five students, the school gradually expanded, relocating multiple times, eventually establishing its own campus in Xianlin in 2004. NIS became China’s first school authorized to offer the full IB programme in 2000, and in 2006, it achieved accreditation from CIS, NEASC, and NCCT. Known for its strong community spirit, the school celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017, reaffirming its commitment to inclusion and its original mission of supporting families and fostering a close-knit educational environment.
