About School
The International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB), located at Building No. 8, 2A Xiang Jiang Bei Lu, Chao Yang District, Beijing, China, was founded by Caroline Chen in 1990. It began as a Montessori classroom with just ten students at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing, where the idea for a unique bilingual kindergarten and primary school was born. MSB aims to provide high-quality bilingual education in both Chinese and English for international families in Beijing.
In 1992, Caroline Chen opened the first MSB kindergarten at the China World Trade Center, followed by the launch of the primary school program a year later at the Beijing Lufthansa Center. Over the years, MSB has expanded its campuses to include Yujing Garden and Xiangjiang Garden, while the Beijing Language and Culture Center for Diplomats in Sanlitun remained the main campus for more than a decade. Today, MSB offers a range of bilingual education options, including full English teaching and fully immersive Chinese-English bilingual programs.
In 2012, MSB moved to its beautiful new campus at Xiangjiang Garden, combining all its campuses into one integrated space. The school currently serves over 400 students from 21 different countries and regions, ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years old, all receiving the high-quality bilingual education that Caroline envisioned.
The International Montessori School of Beijing is registered with the Beijing Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education of China and has been operating for over 30 years. MSB is also a member school of the American Montessori Society (AMS), an organization with over 1,500 member schools and 100 teacher training programs worldwide, all of which are accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
